Box Transformer Measurement and Control System (hereafter called The System) is an important part in the whole PV/Wind Power Generation System and ismainly used for analog quantity acquisition, non-electricity protection, remote control and communication function on the low voltage side of Box Transformer. It can realize the remote management and automatic monitoring of Box Transformer in Step-up Substation, and meet the unattended or few people on duty’ operation management method of the Power Plant Box Transformer, thereby greatly reducing the workload of on-site maintenance and hidden dangers of personal safety.

MW Solution

The System is mainly composed of box transformer, box transformer measurement and control devices, auxiliary communication line, integrated automatic system and power supply. Box Transformer Communication System is composed of rack-mount switch MISCOM6026 installed in Central Control Room and switch core module MIEN5100 installed in box transformer measurement and control devices at outdoor power generation area.

Due to the long distance between wind turbine in Wind Farm and Step-up Substation, wind turbine in Wind Farm needs to be equipped with 35kV (or 10kV) Box Transformer, boosting electrical energy output by fan first, and then converging to 110kV Step-up Substation side for transmission to the main grid system in order to reduce the loss in the process of power transmission. The System can solve the problem that Step-up Substation Integrated Automation System cannot monitor and control Box Transformer due to long distance and scattered structure between Box Transformer and Control Room. Box transformer measurement and control devices combine with communication management machine, fiber optic switch and complete box transformer measurement and control protection functions. The optical ports of MAIWE switch core module MIEN5100/3100 is used to form a ring with other box transformer measurement and control devices, the Ethernet ports of MIEN5100/3100 can be connected to a camera, environmental detector and the serial ports of MIEN5100/3100 can be directly connected to RS485/RS232 equipment.

The whole box transformer measurement and control devices use the fiber ports of MIEN5100/3100 and the fiber ports of MISCOM6026 in Central Control Room to form a 100M redundant self-healing ring network. MAIWE ring industrial Ethernet switch supports self-healing ring network technology, which can automatically recover when the transmission medium is broken, ensuring that the self-healing time of each node is less than 4ms and the ring network self-healing time composed of 10 nodes is less than 30ms. Each power generation area is generally composed of 30 outdoor rooms or fans, corresponding to 30 box transformers, which is divided into three ring networks. About 10 box transformers in each ring network form a fiber ring network with switch in Central Control Room to ensure network communication stability. Operators can remote monitor and control the Box Transformer, thereby greatly reducing the workload of on-site maintenance and hidden dangers of personal safety.
